Faringdon is a historic market town located in the rolling hills of the Cotswolds. Its unique location means it’s an excellent location for visitors of all kinds. From a night away to indulge in some excellent food, to a full week of exploring everything the Cotswolds has to offer, Faringdon is the perfect place to stay. This mini Faringdon travel guide offers just a taste of what this idyllic town has to offer:
Folly Tower
The Folly Tower is a unique architectural phenomenon, with both classical and gothic features. It sits on the top of a hill and offers incredible views from its top floor. The Old Crown can provide an exclusive trip up the tower for our guests, seating them at the very top in the Belvedere Room where they will be served with some of The Old Crown’s iconic dishes. The spectacular views of five counties and delectable food make it one of the most breathtaking places to visit in Faringdon.
FollyFest
The tower also gives Faringdon’s local music festival its name. With numerous stages set up around the town, the festival is a celebration of music of all kinds from artists and DJs both local and travelling. An eclectic mix of genres and eras of music are represented across the line-up and the event remains one of the most exciting summer activities in Faringdon every year. If you can't make FollyFest, the nearby Alverfest in Alverscot and Radfest in Radcot provide an equally excellent selection of live music.
FollyFest is always very popular, so The Old Crown Coaching Inn currently has limited availability on Friday and Sunday only. Book now to ensure you don’t miss out!
Buscot Park
This 18th-century manor has some truly amazing landscaped gardens, including a water garden, woodland avenues and, the jewel in the crown, the Four Seasons garden. The house itself is also accessible for those interested in stately homes and contains an increasingly extensive collection of contemporary art. National Trust members can even visit for free!
Cheltenham
While the races are of course held at Cheltenham, Faringdon is nearby and offers excellent accommodation for those attending the races. The Old Crown even provides a shuttle bus from the hotel to Cheltenham and back again on race day. For those that enjoy that extra bit of luxury, race attendees can return to The Old Crown for a sumptuous dinner crafted by our renowned chef Samuel Squires.
The Old Crown Coaching Inn provides the perfect base to start exploring Faringdon this summer. Find out more about this Faringdon boutique hotel here.
